COMMUNITY PLOT HOLES - PART 1

COMMUNITY will always be one of my all time favorite TV Show. I got really attached to the show that I watch, whenever I get a free time. I even got blocked on the Twitter for a tweet by the director of the show "Dan Harmon" for pointing out the biggest plot hole which is the departing of Troy and Pierce from the show.

Just like any other show, it has got plot holes, here are the thing I have noticed throughout the first season. Some things make you love the show even more 💓

Enjoy! and fell free to share your thoughts.

Community Plot holes TV Show

1) Jeff already knows
Shirley
In the very first episode people were actually introducing themselves. However before Jeff decided to form the study group, he gave an motivational speech about each and every person. The things he said about others can be considered guessed. For an example Annie being an academic, Troy being the quarterback at high school.(not because he's black but his letter jacket). Jeff mentioned Shirley has children, it should be more than a guess, because it was after she mentioned about that "Jukebox".

2) Latte guy is Vaugn's friend
The guy who's bringing latte in episode 4, can be later playing with Vaugn in school premises. Maybe he was a part timer. But he did not know anyone yet, although they were in same classes. So it seemed a bit odd to me.

3) Pierce doesn't know the Dean
Later it was revealed that pierce was at Greendale for 12 years. So for a student like that, it is very strange not to know the dean. In the 6th episode he insulted Dean Pelton without knowing him. Strange right!

4) Pierce's mom sees Cornalius's ghost
During the 7th episode pierce's mom mentioned that she saw his dad's ghost which implies he's dead. However he wasn't dead at that time since we see him in latter seasons and got killed by a heart attack because of Jeff.

5) Police officer and campus security
Same guy was appearing as both a police officer and the campus guard at multiple occasions, through out the series. He is there in episode 11.

6) Madame Leclair asked the pianist in a suit to play something modern but it was then played by a girl.
HAHA! This is what happens when you watch a series over and over again. Check this in episode 14.

7) Chang asking a worker to bring a juice box, in a self service cafeteria.
Given the nature of Chang it is not very strange 😆 But Still! This is typical Chang you see in episode 16.

8) Who's the young Asian guy from Lost

Based on Abed's comment of the Asian kid in episode 16, anyone should have googled this expecting to see picture of the kid on the island. Anyway I couldn't.

9) Jeff talks to Leonerd's son on family day which did not take place yet
Jeff talks about the family day on episode 17 where in it is held on episode 18.

10) 16 Candles
Not actually a plot hole but when it was said to be a dinner with 16 candles, you might expect for same. For god sake it was Abed who said it! 😅 I am referring to the scene at the cafeteria of Jeff and Abed.

11) Without even talking once Dr Escodera knows Jeff
Dr. Escodera was Chang's immediate substitute, and 24th episode was the first time we see her in the show. You might expect she to be not knowing the names of students. Somehow she talked to Jeff by name. Who knows, he might not only be popular among girls 😉

12) Annie might not have researched 3 months for a backpack

Annie says she did research for 3 months to buy the bag she was using at the time in the final episode. But Abed destroyed her previous one just few weeks back. So you see, she might not have that much of time research. 😂

Quite a list of plot holes isn't it? Don't call me a freak, I can even repeat the dialogues while watching. Hope you can agree with me on somethings and very welcome if you have any counterpoints.

See you in the next Season. #SixSeasonsandaMovie

  1. The 16 candles thing is a reference to the movie 16 candles, not literally.

  2. They make a reference about that police officer I guess in season 6? He says somethinf like, i've always been around and you guys still dont know me.

  3. Maybe you didn't include this one because it was to obvious but from the study room changes from the pilot to the other episodes, here it's on the first floor (one floor above the ground floor, in my country) but the second floor in America, it's confusing, but later in all the other episodes, it's on the ground floor (in my country) but the first floor in America and looks very different, the study rooms than the group uses are right near the library but the main one is right near Dean Pelton's office and has two exits or entrance ways, also in the first episode Abed sits between Jeff and Britta so the ordering goes Jeff, Abed and Britta, and the table from the pilot is facing the opposite way from it later position. The dialogue with Shirley would of made more sense if you had read the orginal draft for the script:

I decided to spend twenty years raising children and cleaning up after a man who ran out the door ten minutes after winning one-oh-
two-point-seven thousand dollars in a radio contest. That was a bad decision.
And maybe Annie’s decisions will be better. And I think she should decide whether she
wants to be considered a child or an adult, because a child gets pity, but not respect, and adults can get respect but they can also get grabbed by the hair and have their faces put through jukeboxes. Seriously the orginal Draft had the characters who weren't named "Jeff Winger" as charming and as witty as I found him to have been, serious every line he says in the pilot was comedy-gold like "I learned at a very early age than I could make anything true, so either I am God or truth is relative, so Booyah" and to have given the other study group more fleshed out personalities although Abed got some delevopment and Britta was halfway decent, in the orginal script, she more flip floppy between wanting to have sec with Jeff and being repulsed by him, I don't know, I could rewrite the Community Pilot and use lines from the draft and the final one and make it ten times better but I know that the writters are Genuis especially Dan Harmon and of of course Pilot dialogue is never prefect because you only have a rough idea of your characters and they change alot as you and the rest of the writing team start to add and remove very small pieces of the character, like something I learned recently Sheldon Cooper in the first few episodes of the Big Bang Theory mentions Sex and it is implied that he had sex with people before. The changes that are made to shows are unreal! And I love them!

  4. Pierce probably forgot the Dean existed or maybe he just didn't notice him. I mean it is a big school and throughout the show Pierce is shown to be a bit senile and lost.

They mention nr. 4 in the same episode that Pierce's dad is introduced. Pierce basically says that his mom liked to pretend that he was dead. Plus she was very old, so she might have suffered from dementia or something.
